myPCLab USB Universal Input DAQ

Description

myPCLab is a very compact Data Acquisition tool which connects to a PC via a USB port and monitors two universal analogue inputs, accepting thermocouples, Pt100, Voltages and 4-20mA current loops along with one digital input. It comes with an intuitive and easy-to-use Windows software which plots and records data, shows gauges, bargraphs and digital readouts. The USB port is accessed as a virtual serial port which makes myPCLab compatible with ANY SCADA software with Modbus RTU driver or with any program with ASCII serial communication. Multiple units of myPCLab can be connected to the same computer.

Description

The myPCLab is a low cost USB based dual channel universal analogue input DAQ device. It can accept most thermocouple types, two or three wire PT100 resistance thermometers, 4-20mA current loops and well as voltage inputs. Includes built-in thermcouple and PT100 linearisations and cold junction compensation. The myPCLab also has a volt free digital input for logging contact closues.

The myPCLab has programmable analogue input resolution and log rate. High speed logging at up to 128 samplaes per second can be made at 11 bit resolution: high precison 15-bit resolution data can still be logged 8 samples per second.

All I/O are connect to the myPCLab via screw terminals.

Included Software

The myPCLab software is a Windows program intended to:

  • Configure the myPCLab modules.

  • Plot and record data, show gauges, bargraphs and digital readouts with data from multiple modules.

  • Log data to disk and export in multiple file formats (xls, pdf, rtf, xml, html,dbf, txt, csv).

The myPCLab software can simultaneously communicate with multiple modules, making easy to expand the number of inputs of a measurement system.

Third Party Software

Although the myPClab is USB based, it actually uses a virtual Com port, so any software package that can talk to a Com port can communicate with the myPClab. There are 2 communications modes;

  • ASCII text Auto-send - data is tramsmitted from the myPClab in a simple comma seperated ASCII text format at a pre-set time interval. Data can be read using any package capable of accepting ASCII strings such as most daq packages such as LabVIEW, VEE, DAQFactory, TestPoint etc, programming languages VB, Delphi, C++ .NET, and terminal programs such as HyperTerminal

  • MODBUS RTU Slave - myPCLab acts as a Modbus RTU slave that can answer to “Read Holding Register” requests, Modbus command number 3. The module doesn’t have a specific Modbus address, since it’s the only device in its serial port. It will answer to read request to any valid slave address. Can therefoe be used with most SCADA packages such as DAQFactory, that support MODBUS RTU.

The actual mode is set using the myPCLab software.
