HS805 USB High Speed Scope/AWG

Description

The HS805 is a portable USB oscilloscope that combines a high sampling speed (1 GSamples/s on one channel, 500 MSamples/sec on two channels) with a long record of 32 MSamples per channel. An Arbitrary Waveform Generator (AWG) is also included. It allows the user to generate several standard predefined signals like sine wave, square wave etc. with frequencies up to 20 MHz. It also allows to generate complex user defined signals or to regenerate previously measured signals. Supplied with Free software.

Software

1 GSPS Oscilloscope

The HS805 is a portable USB oscilloscope that combines a high sampling speed (1 GSamples/s on one channel, 500 MSamples/sec on two channels) with a long record of 32 MSamples per channel. That allows you to capture long, complex signal patterns at full speed. The 250 MHz high bandwidth ensures that the signals are measured accurately and without distortion.

When measuring at high sample rates, a long record length is a must, otherwise the acquisition buffer is full before the signal is measured. A record length of 10k samples is just 10 microseconds at 1 GSamples per second. Therefore the HS805 is equiped with a large memory buffer of 32 Mega samples per channel. This enables long measurements at full speed.

For example - A 300 ms long USB signal, zoomed in at various factors. The lower right graph has a zoom factor of 30000. It still provides enough detail for accurate signal analysis.

20 MHz Arbitrary Waveform Generator

An Arbitrary Waveform Generator (AWG) is also available. It allows to generate several standard predefined signals like sine wave, square wave etc. with frequencies up to 20 MHz. It also allows to generate complex user defined signals or to regenerate previously measured signals. The AWG has a 32 MSamples waveform buffer and a maximum sampling frequency of 200 MHz.

Multi Channel Software

The HS805 comes standard with the versatile Multi Channel software that allows to do measurements in a quick and convenient way. With the software, the HS805 can be operated as:

  • storage oscilloscope

  • spectrum analyzer
  • voltmeter
  • transient recorder
  • function generator

The captured data can be viewed in many different ways, in a single graph or in multiple views, each displaying the required property of the measured data. It also allows to perform mathematical operations on the measured data, like adding, subtracting, multiplying, integrating, differentiating, filtering etc. This can be as simple as adding two signals together and display the result in a graph, or it can be very complex. Complex mathematical operations can be performed by combining several mathematical operations. Measured data can be printed and saved to disk in various common data formats.

Besides measuring in block mode, the HS805 is also capable of performing continuous streaming measurements. This will create a continuous uninterrupted data stream to the computer. The data can then be displayed on the screen and/or saved to disk.

Mathematical operations

Mathematical operations like e.g. adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, ntegrating, differentiating etc. are available in the form of processing blocks.

Besides the mathematical operations, there are also several processing blocks to perform other operations on the data, like determining minimum or maximum values, miting to specified range, averaging, iltering, applying gain and offset, etc. Combining these mathematical processing blocks gives unrivalled possibilities in constructing complex mathematical operations.

Spectrum analyzer

Use the spectrum analyzer to see the frequency spectrum of your signal next to the time domain signal. Various windowing functions and display functions are available to meet your requirements.

Streaming measurements

When even 32 MSamples per channel is not enough, it is also possible to perform continuous, uninterrupted streaming measurements to measure as long as needed. Limited only by the available hard drive space, any long signal can be measured and stored for later analysis. Of course all mathematical operations are available in streaming mode as well.

Applications

Typical applications for the HS805 with it's high sampling rate and long record length are debugging fast serial communications, like I2C, ProfiBus and CAN bus signals. The high sampling rate enables capturing the fine details of the signal. The long record length makes sure that a complete block of the serial communication can be captured. The AWG can then be used to regenerate the signal, to simulate the original source in your lab.
