view the weather outside from the comfort of an armchair, measuring
wind speed, direction and temperture. Easy to build and install with free
windows software. Additional

|
The
1-Wire network protocol was developed by Dallas
Semiconductor/Maxim as a way to
interface to range of small devices, such as digital switches,
sensors and analogue-to-digital converters. Every 1-Wire device
contains a unique identifier preset at the factory. As the name
suggests, the devices are networked together by a single wire that
acts as a physical medium to communicate between a host and a large
number of devices attached along the wire. It is also capable of
powering these devices through the same wire. In practice, a second
wire is actually needed to provide a return to ground and complete
the circuit and most 1-wire units actually use a 4-wire RJ11 cable.

basic kit contains all the parts to make a working weather station including;

The
kit does not contain a RS232
or USB 1-wire PC interface
which need to be ordered seperatly. The 1-wire PC interface is
supplied with 2M of RJ11 cable. You may need longer lengths which can
be ordered below.

Included
Software |
|
The
1-Wire Weather Station software takes weather station data from a
One-Wire Weather Station. The data includes: temperature,
humidity,speed and direction of the wind, and the amount of rain
fall. The data is continuously updated at a specified interval,
reflecting any changes in weather conditions. The data is also stored
in a text/log file that users can review. |

Interface |
|
You
can connect your 1-wire weather station to your PC via either an
RS232 adaptor or a USB adaptor. The adaptor has a 1-wire RJ11
connector into which you can plug your 1-wire cable. You can have up
to 200 1-wire devices connected to a single adaptor. Serial
daisy-chain connection is the most common (most 1-wire units have an
"in" connector and an "out" connector to simplify
this) but other connection methods can be used.

RS232
to 1-wire Adaptor
The
DS9097U-S09 Universal 1-Wire COM Adapter is a sophisticated RS232 to
1-Wire Adapter which performs RS232 level conversion and actively
generates the 1-Wire communication signals. The DS9097 can be used
with the 1-Wire Weather Instrument and with any of the 1-Wire modules.

USB
to 1-wire Adaptor
The
DS9490R is a USB bridge with 1-Wire RJ11 interface to accommodate 1-Wire
receptacles and networks. The DS9490 can be used with the 1-Wire
Weather Instrument and with any of the 1-Wire modules.
